Author Guidelines


Formatting Requirements

Manuscripts should be submitted as a single PDF file at initial submission. Upon acceptance, authors must provide the final version using the Glossa Contact LibreOffice or LaTeX template.

Word Count Limits

  • Regular Research Articles: 13,000 words (extendable to 15,000 after revision)
  • Squibs and Ripostes: 5,000 words
  • Fieldwork Reports: 10,000 words (plus supplementary materials)
  • Book Reviews: 3,000 words
  • Crowdsourcing Expertise: 3,000 words

Manuscript Structure

  • Title page (separate file, with author details)
  • Abstract (150–250 words)
  • Keywords (5–7)
  • Main text with numbered examples
  • Abbreviations
  • Ethics and Consent statement
  • Data Accessibility statement
  • Funding statement
  • Competing Interests statement
  • Authors' contributions
  • References (Unified Stylesheet for Linguistics)

Review Process

All submissions undergo double-anonymous (double-masked) peer review. The standard review period is approximately 8 weeks. The manuscript must be fully anonymised before submission.
